Three injured in Lewis County crash

STEFFENVILLE, Mo. -- Three people were injured after a head-on collision Saturday afternoon in Lewis County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said that an eastbound 2009 Toyota driven by Cecil W. Smith, 48, of Ewing, and a westbound 1997 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by Aaron V. Lay, 43, Lewistown, crashed at the top of a hill at 1:50 p.m. on County Road 248, 2.75 miles from Steffenville.

Smith and Lay both suffered serious injuries, and a 3-year-old girl, who was a passenger in the truck, suffered moderate injures.

All were taken by Lewis County Ambulance to Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill., for treatment.

Also assisting at the scene were the Lewis County Sheriff's Department, Ewing Fire Department and Steffenville Fire Department.
