'Owl Prowl Night' scheduled at Sodalis Nature Preserve

HANNIBAL, Mo. — Hannibal Parks and Recreation is offering a chance to learn more about owls in a nature program. The Owl Prowl Night Hike is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday at Sodalis Nature Preserve.

There are a few spots remaining for event.

Parks and Recreation officials say this is an ideal program for families. The walk will be on paved trail, according to Gale Rublee, an interpreter guide for the Parks and Recreation Department. who will be leading the program.

"We will listen and search for owls along the Bear Creek Trail while learning more about their hunting, having babies and hooting habits," Rublee said.

Rublee is a certified interpreter guide and member of the National Association for Interpretation and Association of Missouri Interpreters. She has more than 25 years of experience as a nature educator.

Rublee is also a founding member of the Mississippi Hills Master Naturalists chapter in Hannibal and is coordinator and teacher for the Bluff City Theater Youth Education in Theater Initiative.
