Shelbyville man injured in crash east of Monroe City

MONROE CITY, Mo. -- A Shelbyville man was injured Monday night in a crash east of Monroe City.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said that a 2007 Sterling dump truck driven by Steven K. Adams, 29, of Madison, was traveling west on U.S. 36, 4 miles east of Monroe City, at 5:30 p.m. and slowing to make a right turn when a 2012 Toyota Camry driven by Daniel H. Pierce, 25, of Shelbyville, struck the back of the truck.

Pierce, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken by Monroe City Ambulance to Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill., with moderate injuries.

The patrol was assisted by the Marion County Sheriff's Department and Monroe City Fire Department.
