QUINCY -- A woman, whose name has not been released, died in an early Saturday morning fire in Timber Ridge Trailer Park.

Tri-Township firefighters were called to 7031 Timber Ridge South at 2:50 a.m. and found fire visible in the kitchen and underneath the trailer.

"We got that initial fire knocked down. We went to make entry in the main door, came across some obstacles and had to use a secondary door to do another search," Assistant Chief Darren Smith said. "When we came in the secondary door, we found the occupant in her bed."

Some pets in the trailer also did not survive the blaze, Smith said.

Fire damage was contained to the kitchen and dining room area, Smith said, but the rest of the trailer had heavy smoke and heat damage.

The cause of the fire is undetermined, Smith said, but an investigator with the state fire marshal has been brought in, which is usually done with fatal fires.

Thirteen firefighters, including three from the Quincy Fire Department, battled the blaze. No injuries were reported to the firefighters.

No working smoke detectors were found in the trailer, Smith said.
